SpeedBar Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 20, 2025
Really Broke Ventures LLC ("us", "we", or "our") operates the SpeedBar macOS application (the "Service").
This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of data when you use our Service.
Our Commitment to Privacy
SpeedBar is designed with privacy as a core principle. The app operates entirely on your Mac and does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information to our servers or third parties.
Information Collection and Use
Data We DO NOT Collect
SpeedBar does not collect, store, or transmit:
Personal identification information
User accounts or authentication credentials
Email addresses or contact information
Device identifiers or advertising IDs
Usage analytics or telemetry data
Crash reports or diagnostic data
Your browsing history or network activity
Any information that could identify you personally
How SpeedBar Works
SpeedBar performs internet speed tests by:
Speed Testing: Making temporary connections to Cloudflare's public speed test service (speed.cloudflare.com) to measure your internet connection speed
Local Processing: All speed calculations and result displays happen entirely on your Mac
Network Monitoring: Detecting network status changes locally on your device to automatically run tests when your connection changes
Important: The speed test data never leaves your device except for the temporary test connections to Cloudflare's service, which are immediately discarded after measurement.
Third-Party Services
SpeedBar uses Cloudflare's public speed test endpoints to measure your internet connection speed. These connections are:
Temporary and only made during active speed tests
Used solely to measure download and upload speeds
Not used to collect or transmit personal information
Subject to Cloudflare's Privacy Policy
Cloudflare may temporarily log these connections as part of their standard service operations, but SpeedBar does not send any identifying information with these requests.
Data Storage
SpeedBar stores the following data locally on your Mac only:
Your most recent speed test results (to display in the menu bar)
Application preferences and settings
This data:
Never leaves your device
Is not backed up to our servers
Is deleted if you uninstall the app
Network Permissions
SpeedBar requires network access to:
Perform speed tests by downloading and uploading test data to Cloudflare's servers
Monitor your network connection status to automatically run tests when your connection changes
The app does not access any other network resources or send data to any servers other than Cloudflare's speed test endpoints.
Your Privacy Rights
Since SpeedBar does not collect any personal data:
There is no data to request, export, or delete
There is no account to manage or close
There are no privacy settings to configure beyond macOS system permissions
Children's Privacy
SpeedBar does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The app can be safely used by people of all ages.
